Shielding long-distance power line "Acciaiolo": Toti school, Pisa

19.09.2011

Started the planning stage for the shielding system from elettromagnetic field in Toti school, Pisa.

After months, the Township assigned the ITT ( Invitation to Tender) to G-iron; the site has already been delimited and started both architectural surveys and magnetic field measurements, to finalize the project for the shielding system .

The purpose is the reopening of some classrooms that are used as warehouse since the Controlling Body evaluated that the exposure to those induction values are not safe for children health.

High induction levels were around the school due to the near long-distance power line, so the shielding plan aims for to contain the induction values of the magnetic field well below 0.30µT ( the World Health Organization indicates the attention values, above which the security respect of long term exposure is not guaranteed, causing effects on the human body, such as childhood leukemia).

There will be several stages, under control of ARPA Tuscany; Dr. Nicola Colonna is the person in charge of the continuous monitoring  of the results.
